Graduation day in Chingola, Travel to Livingstone, Zambia
Published by PastorBill April 25th, 2008 in Missions, Pastor Bill, Pictures, Prayer.Graduation was a great event for these men. Although the seminar only consisted of four intense days of teaching, they look forward to the certificate acknowledging their completion of the work as if it had been four years. Here is a photo of the graduating class.
And here is a picture of me handing a certificate to one of the men. All three of us took turns handing them out.
And finally, here is a photo of the guest house where we stayed. The name of the place was “The Pentagon” so we definitely felt like we were in an upscale place with a name like that. The house used to belong to a man from Greece who was discovered to be engaged in illegal activities. He was forced to leave the country and someone else bought his elaborate house. She has turned it into a guest house. Someday the pool will be nice and usable but for us, it was filled with algae and frogs. So we didn’t go swimming.
Finally, we have safely arrived in Livingstone, Zambia. This is a city named after the famous missionary and explorer, David Livingstone. He was also the first European to see these majestic falls on the Zambezi river and he named them after Queen Victoria. We have not seen the falls up close, but as the plane was coming in we could see this massive rift in the ground with water vapor streaming up out of it. Even from the air and several miles away it appears like a staggering sight. It will be fun to see it up close.
These two days in Livingstone will be a great time of rest and refreshment after the intense teaching for the last two weeks. Again, thank you to all of you for praying for the classes. Everything went very well and the students expressed such genuine appreciation for the things presented. Steve has been doing this for ten years and has a real knack for knowing what is important for them. Now you can direct your prayers to our safe arrival home. We have a LOT of miles to cover to get back to our homes.
Short post tonight since I am working in an internet cafe at 7:30 at night. We’re tired and ready to head home and prep for bed.
In Christ,
Pastor Bill
